What are Graphic Novels?

"Graphic Novel" is a format, not a genre. Graphic novels can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between.

Graphic novels are similar to comic books because they use sequential art to tell a story. Unlike comic books, graphic novels are generally stand-alone stories with more complex plots. Collections of short stories that have been previously published as individual comic books are also considered graphic novels.

Waterville Public Library has graphic novels for ALL AGES and reading levels! 

Children - On the ground floor in the Children's Department, up the ramp with the chapter books.

Young Adult - 1st Floor in the Bartlett Room for Teens.

Adult - NEW LOCATION!  1st Floor along the wall of the Nonfiction stack. Ask a library staff member for assistance, or follow the arrows from their old location, across from the Information Desk!
